Innovative studio and gallery projects being developed by artists and curators in remote geographical and/or rural areas; discussion of issues about future housing and studio provision for artists in the countryside; and proposals for future artist residentials and new studio/workspace facilities at the Merz Barn project site in rural Cumbria.

The future uses of the Merz Barn site as an arts laboratory and contemporary gallery. Reading of the names; annual Entartete Kunst memorial event
Each year artists, curators, visitors to the Lakes and the local community assemble for a memorial event at the Entartete Kunst memorial garden, which is located beside the Merz Barn in Langdale. At the ceremony the 200+ names of those artists, writers, musicians and performers who were declared ‘degenerate’ (Entartete Kunst) by the Nazis are read out at a public ceremony of remembrance. http://www.merzbarn.net/readingnames.html
